Like a ghost, my loneliness haunts me
The wind carries the sent of a woman
I feel the gentle caress of a hand on my face
With warm breath she whispers in my ear
As I lay to rest, her presence surrounds me
With every imagined touch to my flesh
Every whispered promise on the wind
My strength, my pride, my will begins to fade
And I am left hollow
I wish I was not alone
I wish I could forget her
I wish I didn’t hurt
I wish…..
Each of these wishes I lay
Before the feet of this amber hued djinn
Releasing it from its glass prison
One shot at a time
And with all it’s finite power
It grants some temporary solace
As bit by agonizing bit
It traps me in its bottle
Forever
